Tremont

The Tremont neighborhood is located south of downtown Cleveland and lies west of the Cuyahoga river. It is one of the oldest historic areas of Cleveland and is home to many restaurants, shops, and art galleries as well as many historic churches. There are about 7000 residents living in the Tremont area which is down from a population of 35,000 back in the 1920’s. At the center of Tremont is Lincoln Park which serves as a gathering place for events as well as for people that want to chat or just sit and relax. Lincoln park is a wonderful place to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning, eat a picnic lunch on a summer afternoon, or just take a leisurely walk in the evenings. It has a swimming pool, a gazebo, plenty of trees and benches and is surrounded by several churches. Tremont is home to the largest number of historic churches in the country which is a reflection of area’s late 19th and early 20th century immigrants and their varied ethnic cultures. For every church, you will find a bar or restaurant. Restaurants include Michael Symon’s Lolita Restaurant, Chef Boccuzzi’s Dante, Zack Bruell’s Parallex Restaurant and many more. On weekends people from surrounding suburbs as well as those that live in downtown Cleveland flock to the many restaurants. On the second Friday of every month is an art walk. The pubs, restaurants, and galleries are packed with people. It is wonderful to see so many people walking around the neighborhood. One of the things we like most about Tremont is that everything is in walking distance. We can walk to a nice restaurant, to the neighborhood pub, or to an art gallery in minutes. There are many photo opportunities in Tremont which will be displayed on the site. First, a little history about the Tremont neighborhood.
